Kate is a prominent figure in the knitting and crochet community in the UK, renowned for her editorial work, design contributions and leadership roles within the industry. With a career spanning over a decade, Kate’s passion for and knowledge of all things yarn knows no bounds.
After a few years dabbling in knitwear design and selling hand-dyed yarn, Kate’s career really took off in 2011, when she assumed the role of editor at Knit Now magazine, an internationally-distributed publication priding itself on providing patterns and inspiration for knitters of all skill levels. Her tenure at Knit Now allowed her to showcase her editorial talents and passion for knitting, while also fostering a community of enthusiastic crafters.
In addition to her editorial work, Kate played a key role in the management and development of Craftworld.com, a prominent online platform dedicated to crafting enthusiasts. Her involvement in this project allowed her to connect directly with crafters all over the world, whilst developing her digital skills. She saw the website’s membership grow to over 170,000 passionate crafters worldwide.
After her tenure as Editor of Knit Now Magazine, Kate was promoted to Head of Content at Practical Publishing, where she spearheaded various initiatives aimed at enriching the crafting experience for enthusiasts worldwide. One of her notable achievements includes her involvement in the launch of the Crochet Society subscription box. This creative service provided crocheters with a curated selection of high-quality yarns, patterns, and accessories, delivered directly to their doorsteps. Kate’s love of the craft and understanding of the audience were instrumental in bringing this exciting venture to fruition, further cementing her reputation as a trailblazer in the crafting community.
