Well, it’s day 1 of the Campaign for Wool’s Wool Week and I’m kicking off with a corker. A few weeks ago, I spotted a tweet from the UKHKA saying that Radley London (they of the delicious handbags) were looking for someone to design a knitted version of their trademark Scotty dog to celebrate Wool Week. Being a lover of handbags as well as wool, I jumped at the chance and got knitting as soon as I could, using some lovely Knit by Numbers yarn.
My design is very 2D, a direct copy of a little wooden mascot which the ladies at Radley sent me for reference. You work each side flat (with a little short-row shaping), and then knit a long straight gusset to create the depth. I opted to have the reverse st-st side and the seam showing on the outside, but there are endless ways you could adapt this pattern. If you fancy knitting your own, send a picture of the FO to Radley and you’ll be in with a chance of winning one of their gorgeous limited edition British wool handbags. All the details are on the Radley blog. Good luck!
