We interrupt your (ir)regular blog to bring you a post about sewing

So, tomorrow I’m going to a Halloween party. It’s Joss Whedon themed. I’ve known about it for MONTHS. I’ve had a few ideas about costumes but only decided a few days ago, opting for the simplest and cheapest.

Obviously. OBVIOUSLY that turned up today and it was All Wrong. So I hightailed it to the fabric shop and got started on the most complex and most expensive of the ideas I’d had. It’s now 10pm on Friday night. The party is in less than 24 hours. I’ve just realised that I’ve missed my friend’s gig tonight and I fee like an awful person.

Here’s some progress shots. Can you tell what it is yet?

A selection of tricky-to-work-with fabrics. Of course.

My nanny's dining table is coming in pretty handy - with the central leaf inserted it's pretty massive and makes a perfect cutting table.

And if you pull the leaves apart a little, you've got a nice little groove to help with cutting straight lines.

You know what doesn't help? With anything at all? A CAT.

Floofination in progress.
Floofination in progress.
And this is how far I've got so far. A few hours tomorrow and we might just have something recognisable.

p.s. I know I need to blog about Shetland Story and stuff, I will, I promise. Pinky swears and all that.
